Self-Control:  Is it Possible?

Galatians 5:22-26

Pew Bible Pg. 948

I.  In a world that seems out of control, Christians are called to have self-control.

    A.  Our families, churches, communities need people who know how to have self-control.

    B.  Our temptation is sometimes all or nothing.

II.  The only way for us to have true self-control is to relinquish control.                  Gal. 5:16-18

    A.  When we try to “maintain” control, we create a mess.         Gal. 5:19-21, 26, James 1:13-15

    B.  When we have Spirit-led control of ourselves, we will live fruitfully.                        22-24

III.  As we become more and more like Jesus Christ, self-control should be more and more evident in our lives...

                                                                                        Prov. 12:18, 18:21; Luke 6:45; Phil. 4:8

    B.  ...in what we do and why we do it.                                                                   Heb. 4:11-13

What area in my life needs more self-control?
